Communications and Marketing Intern

 Job Description 

 

This fall, I am interning at the YMCA Marketing and Communications Office in Harrisburg. I am their marketing/communications intern from August until December. I have several responsibilities in this position that will benefit and enhance the productivity of the company as a whole. I am going to be assisting with the company’s online marketing plans as well as helping with budgeting and planning for things like membership drives and fundraisers. I will be working directly under the Director of Marketing and Communications, Rosie Turner. My structured duties in this position include, but are not limited to:

  • Assisting with the management of 4 YMCA branches social media platforms (Facebook, Twitter, etc…)

  • Creating and handling online advertisements through programs like Facebook Ads Manager and Google Adwords

  • Aid with marketing plan for the upcoming 2016 fiscal year     

  • Help with the membership drive for the upcoming season

  • Assist on event days for things like races and health fairs

 

Learning Objectives

I have had several learning objectives that I've tried to achieve this semester: 

 

Objective #1: To learn more about online advertising such as Google Adwords, Facebook Ad Manager, etc.

Objective #2: Learn more about budgeting, especially for a large organization 

Objective #3: Learn how to plan a marketing campaign start to finish

Objective #4: Learn more about marketing in the spectrum of event planning and development

 

Through my projects and assignments throughout my internship, I've been able to achieve my different learning objective and exceed most of my expectations overall.
